It's an Anniversary! It's a Tradition! It's an Ann-trad-versary?

Yeah yeah - Happy Anniversary to us! You've heard all about the wedding, honeymoon, the last year of our lives and how we spent our anniversary by now. Don't even pretend that you're not tired of hearing about it. Well, don't worry this one isn't about any certain event involving any of those moments. This is about a very simple DIY project....that does have to with our anniversary. We decided to start a new tradition. Well, okay, I decided we should start a tradition and Rob thought it was a pretty cool idea and was willing to go along with me.

I found the idea on Pinterest (no surprise there) and thought it would be a cool way to look back and forward at the same time. Well, just look at the example:

It's pretty basic. It just involves us, the previous year picture and a camera. It's a simple idea. Plus you can see how much you have evolved as a couple and individually.

So now with the plan in mind, we set out to find the right frame. Finding frames was extremely easy - they are everywhere. But figuring out what size was not as easy. We wanted one big enough that we could see a few years back but not too big that it looked freakish hanging on our wall. So after much debate, we decided on a 14x18 frame. Have I mentioned how patient my husband is for putting up with my crazy ideas?

Now with the perfect frame picked out, we had next to pick the perfect picture. We at least had it narrowed down to pictures of the two of us on our wedding day. That made it a heck of a lot easier. We finally decided on one - and again it was more that I decided and Rob went along with it because I chose one he liked. How could I not choose our traditional kissing-cheek pose? Which so happens to be one of my favorite pictures from our wedding day.

So the photo was picked and now I had to find a place to get a 14x18 print made. I looked around, but wasn't have any luck. The best I could find was a 16x20 print, which I figured was no big deal. We could just cut two inches off the bottom and side. But I wanted to make sure I could see how the photo was going to look once it was printed to make sure I was going to be able to cut it down. Unfortunately there weren't many places that allow you to see it. However, Walmart was the one place I found that did allow me to position the picture. And luckily they are pretty cheap. It costs about $13 to get the poster size print made, which all in all wasn't bad.

It didn't take long for the print to come, so the next step was measuring, cutting, and assembling.

After that was all done, I just put it in the frame - the easiest part - and you're done.

Looks good, right? So I know it's just leaning against a bookshelf, so it's not exactly perfect yet. But it will have a nice home on a wall in our new home...somewhere. I just have to figure out where I want it now. That could possibly be the hardest part of the whole process. I'm pretty indecisive.

But the way the process works is that we replace the picture from last year with the picture from this year. And this happens each year. But we will still be able to see the picture from the year before - inside the picture. It's pretty cool. I love this idea.

So now our frame has found its home. The new picture is in place. And it is all great and grand. So what'd think?

Pretty cool, right? Well, regardless, I love it!
