Rollin'

Addison loves loves loves to roll from her back to her tummy. Every single nap and bedtime I find her on her tummy. She loves tummy time now, which was so not the case a few months ago. I couldn't get her on her tummy to save my life without her having a meltdown. She hated being her tummy and now I can't get her off her tummy. Which is great. It's awesome. She loves rolling. And with all this time on her tummy, she is figuring out how to get her knees under her although she has no idea what to do after that. She can also scoot in a circle and boy is she good at scooting in that little circle.

The problem, however, is that she doesn't roll back to her back from her tummy. Now, she has done it. It has been a long time since she has rolled from her tummy to her back, as in she did it at about three months and not a single time since. I would be lying if I told you I wasn't considered about it because I really am. I'm worried about it. But I also know that she is a big baby and it is hard for her to roll back to her back.

What I am looking forward to is when she figures it out. Life will be so much easier. I wouldn't have a baby who rolls herself on her tummy and then gets trapped, unable to roll back. Sometimes she tries. Sometimes she gets the front part of her body rolled but not the bottom part of her because she doesn't know what to do or how to get herself rolled.

She is so close to figuring out what to do once her knees get under her, so I can't help but think that crawling is going to come before rolling back to her back. Or maybe it will all come at once. I guess you never really know when kids, huh? They do things on their own timetable, when they are good and ready. Addie is no different. She is stubborn - has been since I was pregnant with her, hence hardly any face pictures of her in all eleven some ultrasounds I got throughout my pregnancy.

So I keep reminding myself that she will roll back to her back when she is good and ready. She will crawl when she is good ready. She will pull herself up when she is good and ready. I'm definitely not in a hurry to rush my little girl. I want her to stay my little girl as long as possible - but rolling to her back would makes things so much easier....

Update: About an hour after I wrote this blog post, she rolled back to her back. That's my girl. Making me take back my words. I'm still posting it because up until that hour, it still applied, so here you go for any mothers out there that are having the same problems. It just goes to show that babies will do things on their own timetable when they are good and ready!
