Making The Cut: Kickbox Fastfix

I have had this DVD for awhile now but just never did it. So when I decided to get back to working out again, I thought would be a good one to start with. It was different than the other ones. I had never done a kickboxing workout. It was only 20 minutes, so I wasn't going to kill myself or my spirit starting back again. I didn't want to quit. I didn't want to stop before I could even get started. So I thought this might just be the one for me. And my plan seemed to work. I didn't quit. I got through all 6 weeks (3 levels) of this workout. It was a struggle at times but I kept pushing back. And trust me this was not an easy road.

The first week started off well enough except for a little cold I had. My throat didn't hurt, but I struggled breathing a little because my nose was all stuffed up. But I kept pushing, taking one day off. [My goal was to workout four days a week.] I achieved my goal of using an 8-pound weight, despite how sore it made me. I was able to keep up with the fast pace of the DVD. I did quickly discover a problem when I would try to do some of the kicks. On the DVD the kicks looked easy enough, but as it turned out it wasn't so easy on the carpet. It was definitely a bit of a challenge.

The next two weeks (one week on level one and one week on level two) went well enough. I was feeling better and did my workout four days each week. I was definitely starting to feel better. I was sleeping better and all around feeling like I knew I could feel.

But in the middle of my fourth week, I was walking up the stairs and I felt something popped in the back of my knee. That was the same day I struggled to get through my workout due to my knee hurting a little. I didn't think much of it that morning but I definitely was thinking of it when I felt the pop that evening. I woke up the next morning with some killer knee pain. I took my day off, hoping that it would feel better and heal up before my next workout day. Too bad that didn't happen. I was feeling frustrated. I had just gotten back into this and I didn't want to stop now. I didn't want to lose my momentum now. So I chose to find an less intense upper body only workout on YouTube in order to keep working out but to give my knee the much needed break. It was boring, the people were obnoxious, I didn't sweat, and it was only 10 minutes. But at least I was doing something. I didn't lose everything that I had started.

Luckily by the next week I could start in level three like normal. My knee was feeling good, unfortunately I wasn't. I had gotten a cold. Yup, the hits just keep on coming. My kid came me a cold. That was the hardest week of them all to get up. I didn't feel so good. I really just wanted to sleep. But I wasn't going to stop at this point. I had now gotten to week five and I was almost there, so there was no turning back now. But trust me when I say that I was glad when Friday came along and I would get two days off.

Week six, my final and last week of this workout. I had never been more excited - okay, well that's not entirely true but you get the point. I was feeling done with this workout. I just wanted to move on by this point. So you can imagine my excitement when Friday came along and I was done. 6 weeks done and gone.

That's hard to believe. 6 weeks have gone by quickly. This workout has been one struggle after another. I was sick. I was hurt. I got tired of this workout. I decided that I didn't really enjoying this kickbox workout as my exercise program. It wasn't that bad overall, but it wasn't my favorite. I'm actually excited to start the workout I started yesterday. I must be crazy...
