A Pregnancy Story: Week 22

You are now about the size of a spaghetti squash measuring at almost 1 pound and at about 11 inches
long. You are starting to look more like a small newborn now with more distinct lips, eyelids, and eyebrows. You are even developing tiny tooth buds beneath your gums, although I will admit that I'm not exactly looking forward to teething. You'll understand when you get there, but it's not exactly fun. Your eyes have formed now but your irises still lack pigment. You have started sleeping in cycles of about 12 to 14 hours a day. You are sporting languo, very fine hair, all over your body and wrinkles all over your skin until you develop fat to fill the wrinkles in. So does that mean you look like a tiny little man? Your pancreas is steadily developing, which is good since it is essential for production of some of your important hormones. Although I feel like everything that is developing right now is important and essential. You just keep doing your thing!

I'm feeling pretty good. I'm tired but that's pretty normal these days. Hopefully with baseball season over, I can start getting more sleep again. I nap almost every day despite how much sleep I get at night. I'm definitely a big fan of naps. Apparently I only get one good week of sleep during this pregnancy and I already used. Fingers crossed there's better sleeping coming! I'm steadily gaining weight which is exactly what is supposed to happen. However that means my body is feeling it a bit more. But my favorite thing is feeling you kick. Sometimes it feels like you never stop kicking. But I'll take it. Overall things are much better.

The other day I noticed for the first time that I had a belly. I know that my belly is growing and I can feel him really moving around in there. But the other day I bent down to pick something up and I realized that it was a lot harder than it used to be. Bending over took my breath away and compressed everything very uncomfortably. I also noticed laying down and getting back up are not as easy as it once was. For the majority of this pregnancy I haven't really noticed anything. My body has been feeling pretty good. Sure I have been nauseous and exhausted but physically I have been pretty good. But now I am noticing that my back hurts. My belly is starting to get in the way. I can feel tightness in my belly which makes me a little uncomfortable. I forgot how physically hard it is to grow a human being. With Addison it took so long to get to this point that I had very little time in the truly uncomfortable state. However, I am gaining weight much faster (well with Addie I gained hardly any weight at all) and my belly is growing bigger earlier, so I am definitely noticing a difference.
