A Pregnancy Story: Week 28

Now you are measuring at 14.8 inches long all stretched out and weighing 2 1/4 pounds, which is
about the size of a large Chinese cabbage. You are sporting eyelashes on those blinking eyes of yours - yes, now you can blink! Your eyesight is improving, so you might be able to see light that could filter through. Your brain is constantly forming and developing with billions of neurons developing in your brain. You are also getting more body fat which is smoothing out those wrinkles and preparing you for life outside the womb.

I'm feeling exhausted but there is a lot going on in our lives right now. We are just busy. With the holidays coming up that keeps us moving and soon we'll be traveling which is always exhausting. This week has been a busy week. We had all our normal stuff and on top of that I had my three-hour glucose tolerance test, plus a sonogram. I hated the glucose test but I always love seeing you so the sonogram was definitely bonus. I keep having these moments when I realize that we aren't that far away from meeting you. I imagine that we still have months and months but you will be here before we know it. I feel completely unprepared. Your due date is sneaking up on me and I need to start getting my act together. Your room is almost done but we still have some thing to get for you, plus we have to start pulling out all the baby stuff again. Whenever I think about your due date closing in I get completely overwhelmed and terrified but I also get really excited. You have been kicking me all day for the last couple months and I can't wait to see that face that goes with those kicks.

Well I am now officially in my third trimester. Some people say it starts at 27 weeks and others say 28 weeks. I honestly have no idea, but I'm in my seventh month and in my last trimester. That's weird to say. The second trimester definitely flew by. Every Saturday when a new week would start I would be in disbelief that I was already ready for another week. It was even crazier thinking of the months ticking by as we got closer to the third trimester. I wish I could say that the second trimester was a cake walk but it really wasn't. It was definitely better than the first. I had my moments of morning sickness but I way less than I did the first trimester. I usually only got sick the first day of the new week and that was because of the hormonal changes every week. It was definitely manageable. I did have a little more energy in the second trimester however I was still pretty tired. I had trouble getting comfortable at night and was already taking at least one trip to the bath in the middle of the night. Unlike with my first pregnancy I started putting on weight faster and my belly grew bigger. Although in comparison, I am still pretty small but for me I definitely got uncomfortable sooner. Baby boy has been measuring big from the get-go which meant a leg jammed up in my rib cage or along my back making it uncomfortable to sit especially later in the trimester. Standing or laying down have been the only way to relieve that pain. However my feet hurt so I'm not crazy about the standing idea. As I approached the last weeks I definitely felt my organs being smashed more. I had to start eating less in one sitting which meant more meals throughout the day because I have definitely be hungry. I get winded easily thanks to an almost constant pressure on my lungs. Despite all those uncomfortable moments as baby boy grows and I get bigger, I have loved every second of it. I have truly realized how blessed I am. He wiggles around constantly and I am just so thankful for him already. He is my little miracle. Each month you try to get pregnant you have only a 20% chance of actually getting pregnant. With three consecutive miscarriages I had a 60% of miscarrying again. But here I am in my third trimester now and loving that I can feel him moving and kicking all the time. It's hard to believe that we are just three short months (maybe less if he's like his sister) away from meeting him.
