A Pregnancy Story: Week 29

You are now about the size of a butternut squash weighing about 2 1/2 pounds and you are measuring
just over 15 inches long extended. Your head is getting bigger every day in order to make room for your constantly developing brain. Your muscles and lungs are also starting to mature, in order to prepare for life outside the womb. I have to make sure I am eating plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron to meet all your growing nutritional demands because of all that growing. About 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited into your skeleton to help it hardened and strength every day, so I have to make sure I am taking in enough calcium for your bones.

I'm feeling pretty good. It's Christmas time after all! Unfortunately I'm still not sleeping great and traveling hasn't exactly helped, but I'm making it. With all the travel I have definitely looked forward to getting back to my own bed and sleeping semi-normally at home again. The really weird dreams are back again. Overall I have felt pretty good. Definitely been tired and I wear out easily but that's pretty usual these days. Nothing major has really happened this week. It's been a lot of travel and a lot of things out of routine. But that hasn't stopped you from moving a bunch. You are definitely active and definitely keeping me hungry. I feel like I'm eating a lot these days and I probably am but luckily it's okay that I'm always eating. I'm still gaining about a pound a week. I'm at every other week OB appointments and I'm almost two-thirds of the way done with this pregnancy which seems crazy to me. It has seriously flown by.

Exercise has become something even more important to me than ever. I struggled through my first trimester and easily got bored in my second trimester but stuck with it. I did a lot of Moms Into Fitness and felt good. But now into my third trimester I struggled with boredom and a lack of energy. I knew I wanted to stick with exercise because I would feel better but I also knew with my past of gestational diabetes I needed to do some kind of exercise to help keep my numbers lower. When I was pregnant with Addison it was summer/fall and I could walk every day, but now it's winter and I'm not a fan of walking in the cold, so I knew it was important to stick with something indoors. I did some searching on Youtube and found a few different pregnancy workouts to try. The first one I tried was really basic and wasn't challenging at all. Although I'm pregnant and have to go a little easier with my workouts, I could do more than what this workout was offering. Quite frankly I did it for about a week and I was bored the second day. I kept searching and found Tracy Anderson's The Pregnancy Project and loved it. The first time I did it my arms, legs and butt were burning but there was no cardio which I loved. Cardio was becoming more and more uncomfortable for me. I wanted something that would get my heart pumping but nothing with too much. I finished the first week and wished I had found this workout earlier. I loved the idea of working my body without cardio or core (especially with my umbilical hernia). It was challenging yet it wasn't something that winded me or got me overheated. I loved just getting my body moving every day and feeling like my arms were going to look really good by the end of the pregnancy. Exercise has definitely made a difference this pregnancy. I'm still exhausted and my body still hurts and I'm still uncomfortable. But I feel like it has made a difference in how I'm feeling overall.
