A Pregnancy Story: 31 Weeks

You are now about the size of four oranges, weighing 3 1/3 pounds and almost measuring over 16
inches long. Although you are constantly growing, you are about to have a growth spurt - something you will have a lot after you are born. Your arms, legs, and body are already starting to plump out with the fat you have accumulated so far, and you can move your head from side to side. All of you is actually doing a lot of moving, which as crazy as it can drive me from time to time, is a good thing because it means you are healthy and active. So all that moving is important, and I'll take it any day.

I think my sleeping just keeps getting worse. I can't just not get comfortable but it's also that when I am asleep it's not a restful sleep. It probably doesn't help that I have a lot on my mind. I keep coming up with things I need to take care of before you come. If you are like your sister then I only have six weeks left. And even if you decide to wait longer than it's still only nine weeks until my due date so I'm definitely feeling the pressure to make sure I have things ready for your arrival. I feel drained, stressed and pretty anxious. This week has been the first week in awhile that I didn't gain any weight. I didn't lose any so that's at least something. I haven't been wanting to eat much in the way of meals lately but wanting to snack all the time which is completely out of character for me. I feel like I do nothing but eat so the lack of weight gain this week was a bit surprising to me. The other day I made a comment to your dad about how you didn't hiccup as much as Addison did when I was pregnant with her and now you are hiccuping all the time and it's driving me crazy. Maybe you do hiccup as much but I didn't pay attention but maybe you just didn't want to be left behind when it came to hiccuping.

I was really nervous about having to take Addison to my OB appointments with me. When I was pregnant with her it wasn't a big deal because it was just me going. I would take a book and waiting was no big deal. But this time around I knew I would have a tag-along. Rob couldn't take that much time off fora ll my appointment so I had to figure out how to keep my three-year-old entertained while I got myself and Connor checked out. But my worries were completely unnecessary because my OB is the same doctor I have been going to all along. She also happens to be Addison's doctors so there are plenty of toys in each exam room. In fact Addison even talks about the toys in the baskets whenever we head to the doctor. She tells me that doctor will fix my tummy inside and is almost excited when we go, which is good considering we are at every other week appointments now. She sits and plays with the toys throughout my entire appointment and tags along whenever I have to go to lab, even doing some unnecessarily loud narrating when I leave my urine sample each time. It was like I forgot how easy going Addison is when it comes to this kind of thing. But those appointments are short and sweet and we are in and out quickly. But I had to have another sonogram a few weeks ago and Rob couldn't come to it, which meant I would be on the table getting Connor checked out for longer while she waited. I wanted to concentrated on what the tech was doing and see Connor but I had to keep an eye and ear on Addison. Again I was unnecessarily worried because she sat in the chairs and played on the iPad the whole time occasionally looking up to see baby brother. Having to plan appointments around a little person's schedule was definitely something I didn't have to worry about during my first pregnancy and it has definitely been easier than I thought it would be.
