A Pregnancy Story: 32 Weeks

Weighing 3 3/4 pounds, you are the size of a large jicama (I'll admit that I have no idea what that
actually is). You are measuring at about 16.7 inches long. You are gaining about a half pound a week or so now (I'm gaining about a pound a week) and taking up a lot of space in there. In the next seven weeks, you will gain about a third to a half of your birth weight that will help you survive outside the womb. You have toenails, and hair or maybe just peach fuzz. Your skin is getting soft and smooth because now that you are gaining weight, you are losing those wrinkles.

I feel the same as I have been feeling for the last few weeks: tired. It's really hard to get comfortable which is terrifying since I still have eight weeks until my actual due date. But the daily naps are helping some. I am getting up so many times in the night that it's hard to get comfortable or a restful sleep; and when I am sleeping it's definitely not a deep sleep because I'm waking up to everything. My back and ribs are hurting more because you just keep getting bigger and there's just no room. All I want to do is a get some good sleep while laying on my tummy, heck I would even take sleeping on my back at this point. You definitely spend a lot of time moving which I still love but it's those kicks to the bladder that have me rushing to the bathroom a lot more these days. Even though I'm eating all the time I'm still gaining weight at a pretty steady rate. It's more comfortable to bend over these days because you are sitting low and it often takes my breath away. But I'm doing the best I can to do basic things and take care of your sister who doesn't understand why I'm not moving as fast these days.

Addison has been adjusting to the idea of being a big sister. She is only three years old so her understanding is somewhat lacking. At first she didn't understand at all. We would tell her that mama was going to have a baby and she was going to be a big sister, but she would look at us like we had two heads. That continued when we found out we were having a boy and we talked about baby brother. She didn't completely understand who this baby brother was because there was no one there. Over time as I went to more appointments and we talked about Connor more, Addison started realizing that baby brother was still inside mama's belly, although she was convinced that the doctor just needed to fix it. Just in the last few weeks I have started to ask Addison what baby brother's name is and she has finally started answering Connor, followed by her saying inside and doctor fix it. She still doesn't completely understand but we talk to her on a regular basis about her being a big sister and that we will get to meet baby brother soon. Of course Addison has no idea what's coming and that her world is going to be changing soon, so for the time being she is fairly excited.
