Two Ladies & Their Gent: Winter 2016

It's been a pretty fall and winter for us. Although I write almost every day I feel like all you get is snapshots, moments in time. But there are other things going on in-between those moments. Not that that's all that exciting because really it's just every day life.

Every day life is not exactly thrilling. We are pretty simple and sometimes quite boring. Winter is easily my least favorite time of the year. I get the winter blues every year and being pregnant doesn't exactly help that. So that means a lot of sweatpants and way too much TV for me.

But we'll start with the gent. He's not going to be our only gent for much longer and we are excited about that. Of course Rob is excited about the impending arrival of our son but no more than he was about Addison (I often get comments about how excited my husband must be to be getting a son like somehow having a daughter was a disappointment to him - weird people!). He's pretty busy all the time with Garmin since they request his presence five days a week. Since enjoying our Marine-free time right now since we don't know what the future holds. He's been working on some programming for me to make meal planning and making recipe cards easier. He's also been busy helping me out around the house. This little boy is sitting pretty low which makes bending down really uncomfortable so he helps pick up the slack which has been way too much lately. When he's not working or helping me out, he does a lot of playing with Addison. Those two just can't get enough of each other.

Speaking of Addison, she's rocking life. I'm so proud of her and how far she has come. We are in the threenager stage which means lots of attitude, whining, and temper tantrums. It means a lot of parenting for me and even more patience, which I seem to be short on. But she is doing amazing when it comes to talking. She has really come so far and is becoming so clear. She is still behind but she is loving speech therapy and doing well. The only times I realize she has any delay at all is when we are around other kids and I see not where she came from but where she should be. But it doesn't matter, I'm still so proud of her and she is making so much progress every day. The poor kid is cooped up with me all day long and I feel bad about that but she is excited about being a big sister. I worry about the impact on her but she's tough and going to be an amazing big sister.

I am in the final countdown of this pregnancy and I am so excited. I'm uncomfortable almost all the time and I am so ready to meet this little muchkin who doesn't stop kicking me. Other than that I've been keeping it easy doing a lot of reading and not too much cleaning. I guess the nesting instinct hasn't kicked in yet. I do want to clean out and get rid of stuff but I seem to lack energy to do that. Maybe it's something I'll tackle this spring when I can bend easier. My updates are pretty boring because I spend all my time growing a baby. I try to keep up with things as normal but it's harder some days than others. I do nap a lot - almost every day when Addie goes down now.

This was clearly last fall pre-baby bump. No worries Connor is still in there exactly where he should be.
Stella does a lot of napping too. That's pretty much her life. After having some issues with her eyes which we were able to resolve [mostly] with medicine, she is much better. They told us we might have to do surgery in order to completely fix her eyelid, which was turning in and rubbing on her eye. But stress was causing the problem to flare up and after getting pregnant [we were pretty stressed about all the miscarriages and infertility, not to mention everything Addison went through] and getting her on some medicine we were able to resolve the issue and calm the flare up. She is no longer on medicine and her eyes are back to normal. She is a little overweight which we are just trying to maintain her weight at this point by regulating how much she eats. Turns out getting a cat to exercise hard. Cats really like sleep. But overall she is doing well. Addison is in love with Stella Cat and even feeds her every morning (that's her chore).

Like I said every day life isn't exactly thrilling, but maybe sometimes it's nice to see that. It's so easy to compare our lives to what we see on the internet and if what we chose to post (on blogs, social media, vlogs, etc.) is those good moments then it's easy to think our lives aren't as great in comparison. But that's not true. We all have ups and downs. But I'm content and happy with our every day life. Maybe it's too boring and antisocial for some, but we are good with it.

xo, B
