Swings, Bottles, and Dino Poppers

For the last couple of weeks I have slowly been pulling out the baby items we already have. It has been surreal seeing all these things again.

The first thing to come out was the swing which Addison spent a lot of time sleeping in when she was younger. She loved that swing. Of course currently it's been usual with the playmat as a fort. I wanted to get it all put back together and make sure it was still working. It was set up as an actual swing for only a short amount of time before it was transformed by the hubs and the kid into this fort where Addison goes and reads when she's downstairs. It's going to be heartbreaking for the kid when it becomes a swing again, although I have no doubt they will find something else to make into a fort.

I also went through the clothes I have to find gender neutral and boys clothes that Addison already had. I'm guilty of something getting Addison sleepers and onsies in the boys section because I got tired of pink. I had a few more things than I remembered getting which gave us a little bit of a head start on clothes since I didn't have anything to start with. I also found some newborn and size 1 diapers that I had packed away after Addison had grown out of them. I definitely don't have very many but I have a few to get us started at least.

Just last weekend I pulled out even more things. After installing his carseat in the car so we were ready at any point and so we didn't keep tripping over it, I pulled out everything that had to be sanitized.  I found my breast pump first which I remember cleaning after my last use with Addison, but I want to get cleaned and sanitized again since it's been sitting for three years. I also found all the bottles and nipples, except for the slow flow ones which have disappeared. I'm still looking for those but if I'm unsuccessful then they are pretty cheap to buy.

I also just pulled out all the baby toys. Although he won't be playing with some of them for a couple months, I wanted to get everything cleaned. Addison was definitely the most excited about the appearance of the toys. The playmat which will be used early on was used as part of the fort. Addison definitely helped with unloading the tub. I tried to get things wiped down before they disappeared but I'm sure there was some I missed. She was pulling things out of the tub faster than I could get it wiped down. I was definitely amazed at how interested she was in all the toys again. I thought she wouldn't be interested because she was just too old for the toys but apparently it's like having all new toys for her. She has been checking the batteries for me in all the toys. Her favorite is definitely the Dino Popper which was a favorite way back when too.

Every step we take makes it feel more and more real. Of course getting kicked in the bladder over and over makes it all feel real but the fact that I am now pulling out things means we are really close. I keep saying it over and over but time completely flew by this pregnancy. Of course now that we are at the tail end time has slowed down a little. I am ready to meet him. I have some serious pain in my back and rib cage that I am so ready to not have anymore. But mostly I'm just ready to meet him.

Currently we are just getting ready for him. There are still some things that we have to get but we are pretty well off overall. It's just hard to believe I'm far enough along that we are almost ready for him to be here!

xo, B
