Connor James: 2 Weeks

Dear Connor:

You are two weeks old! It's hard to believe that we are already 14 days into this journey with you. I wish I could say it was always easy but having a newborn is a exhausting. However as far as newborns go you are pretty easy-going. You are very relaxed and not all that fussy. However saying that I will also say that you are definitely more fussy this week than you were last week. But that might be our fault since we changed your formula and we think you are having stomach pains.

You are a pretty good sleeper. You really like being held though and refuse to sleep in the port-a-crib. We keep trying but every single time we put you down you wake up pretty much right away. But you do like to sleep just about anywhere else especially on us. And you will sleep for four-five hour stretches at night so we are getting some sleep. And luckily we got the all clear from the doctor that we can let you sleep that long between feedings if you sleep. But you still aren't allowed to sleep through the night yet.

You love to eat. We officially finished breastfeeding at about twelve days into your little life. I really wanted to make it longer but I just didn't have enough to give you. You seem okay with switching to formula as long as you get enough to eat. It definitely makes me sad but we get lots of cuddles still although it's not the same. You eat about 3 ounces every 2-3 hours and sometimes at night you want a little more to top off your tummy. I'm just happy you are getting enough and growing. At your newborn checkup you were almost back to your birth weight so we know we are on the right track.

You have only been in our lives for two weeks but you are already so loved. Your sister kisses you good night every night and runs in to tell you good morning every day. You love to curl up on your daddy's chest. And sometimes mama is the only one to who calm you down when you are upset. You get angry if we take too long to make a bottle or when we change your clothes. You also cried through your first bath at home.

But you are an awesome kid and we love you so much. It's hard to believe that three weeks ago you weren't here because you fit so perfectly into our family. We are so lucky you have you in our lives. I love you so much little man.

Love, Mama
