Connor James: 3 Weeks

Dear Connor:

I can't believe you are almost a month old already. These first couple of weeks have really flown by. Although I'm not going to complain too much since these are definitely the hardest weeks. Luckily for us you are a pretty easy going kid. You go with the flow. You are good just about anywhere. You are just content. I really like that about you. It makes life a little easier.

However you don't mess around when you are hungry. You love to eat and you take a bottle like a pro. Occasionally you mess around and just pacify or refuse to eat more than an ounce at a time which means we are feeding you more often and wasting formula, but mostly you do awesome. You get up twice in the middle of the night then once in the early morning to eat and sleep about three to four hours in between feedings. You usually eat around 8 pm which is normal bedtime around here. Then we see you again about midnight then again at 4 am. And not again until the morning. The 4 am feeding is definitely the hardest and when you are the most awake but we are making it. I just wish you had your days and nights completely straightened out. Although it is getting better.

Sleep is definitely going better. One night you slept most of the night in the port-a-crib but we struggled to get you back down. We were okay with that because it was better than you sleeping on us all night. Then the next night you were in the port-a-crib all night and even napping there during the day. We were beyond thrilled. I didn't expect you to be in sleeping the night there anytime soon and definitely didn't expect you to nap there. I do try to get my fair share of cuddles in during the day though and we do occasionally still let you nap on us. After all you are only a newborn once.

There isn't a lot of things that you hate. You aren't a fan of being naked so mornings when I change your clothes and get you in a diaper is the worse time for you. But most of the time diaper changes are easy and you barely fuss. You don't seem to be a big fan of the swing like your sister was so that was definitely a bit of a surprise for us. But not that big of a deal since you will nap in your port-a-crib. Overall you are content just about anywhere. You are good with your car seat, although you occasionally get cranky when we first put you in before settling down. You don't mind tummy time and are already pretty strong. And you like to watch the world around you, especially your big sister.

I definitely don't mind how laid back you are. I love seeing more of your personality as the days go on. You are already changing so much and too fast. I'm personally not a fan of the newborn stage but too soon you won't want to cuddle with me and you'll just be too big. So I'm just trying to soak it all in and and you my sweet boy. I love you so much little man.

Love, Mama
