Connor James: 2 Months

Dear Connor:

You have changed so much since last month. You are hardly the same baby and definitely don't look the same. You have added on a couple pounds and filling in. You have been in 3 month clothes for awhile now and before I know it you'll be on to the next size. You are just growing so fast.

I feel like I have had completely different babies at different times during this last month. Right after you turned one month you became super clingy. You wouldn't sleep if I put you down and wanted to be held all day long. For about three weeks I had to wear you in the carrier all day. Then suddenly you were okay being put down for naps in your bouncer or even in the port-a-crib. You even slept on the couch for a couple hours one day. It was a complete 180. You are already keeping me on my toes. Of course you still love the carrier and you will definitely be worn when you can get it.

You have been more awake during the day. You love to watch the world and see what's happening. One of your favorite people to watch is your sister. She is constantly moving and making noise and you seem fascinated with her. But of course none of us can really replace the fans around the house that you love to watch. You'll take those over any of us any day.

The biggest surprise with you so far is how much you love to sleep at night. You've been sleeping happily in your port-a-crib for awhile now, but lately you have been going longer between feedings at night. We give you your bedtime feeding about 8 then most nights you are sleeping anywhere between 6 to 8 hours. We see you again between 3-4 in the morning then not again until 7-8 in the morning. We are definitely getting longer periods of sleep. You even went 10 hours the other night.

Of course you are full of other surprises as well such as you don't hate bath time. You hardly cry unless you are just really hungry. You hate the swing. I'm still learning all these little things about you. And of course as soon as I figure them all out, you are going to change again.

You are already so strong. You love to hold your head up and watch the world. You just want to take in everything you can. You hardly sleep when you are being held unless you are really tired because you just can't rest - there is just too much to see.

The biggest thing that happened this last month was that you started smiling. It is definitely one of the best things. You give these huge smiles that just melt my heart. You also have a tendency to pull out these smiles when I am really frustrated or having a bad day out of no where and it's hard to be frustrated when I get one of those smiles. I'm learning that something that makes you smile one time doesn't make you smile again except when I talk about your sister - you seem to really like that.

You are an awesome little boy. You were worth the wait. I can't wait to see what you are going to do next month. I love you so much little man.

Love, Mama
