Connor James: 3 Months // Happy Friday

Dear Connor:

You are changing so fast. It's hard to believe that you are the same little boy from a month ago. You are getting so big and you have so much personality. You are so happy and content and easy. You smile from the moment you wake up and only cry if you need something and even then it's rare. It's hard to believe you are only three months old with how easy you are. You take things as they come. You smile at everyone. You put yourself to sleep at night. You love to sit up. You are very chill. Not much bothers you and you don't bother much.

You love to eat and are already developing your own schedule. You are eating more these days between 6.5 to 7 ounces. Occasionally you down 8 ounces but that's pretty rare. The hardest thing with you is getting you to burp. But we can always tell that you feel much better and your stomach  softens when you do. We have had days where you have trouble sleeping all day because you are so uncomfortable. I'm getting better at figuring out why you can't settle. I just wish I was better at actually getting you to burp.

As far as sleeping is concerned, you are a great sleeper. You sleep anywhere from 8-11 hours at night straight through. Very rarely do we see you awake before 7 am. Then during the day you take about three naps. I get you down for about 1-2 hour nap then in the afternoon you nap for anywhere between 3-4 hours. Usually in the evening you only take a short snooze of about 30 minutes but it's enough to keep you from getting overly tired before bed. I have figured out that if you have been awake for 2 hours or more than you are already too tired and it's going to be more of a fight to get you to sleep. Most of the time after you've been up between an hour fifteen and an hour thirty, it doesn't take long to get you down. I actually don't even have to hold you and put you down asleep. I put you down in your port-a-crib (you are still in our room) awake and usually it's just about ten minutes or so of shushing or humming to you before your eyes get heavy. At night you are even easier because I put you down awake and you put yourself to sleep. I love that you are a great sleeper. It makes you and me both very happy. Occasionally you get overly tired which is one of the few times you will actually scream and cry but there is a reason behind it and after you get some sleep, usually on us, you easily go down for a decent nap by yourself.

There's not much that you really hate. You aren't a big fan of tummy time or bath time but you tolerate both. Sometimes during tummy time you look like you are trying to figure out how to roll over and I wouldn't be surprised if you figure it out soon. You are very strong and able to really hold your head up. It always seems to surprise me because I'm not the best at remembering to do tummy time with you, yet every time we do do it you are even stronger than the last time. You are also more interested in your play mat trying to figure out how to bat at things at random. You are more interested in playing with your toys. I put things in your hands and you hold on tight, studying them and moving them. You are definitely doing more playing these days and not so much just laying around staring at things. Although you still like doing that, especially if what you are staring at is the fan.

The biggest thing from this last month is that you started laughing. I forgot how amazing it is to hear a baby laugh for the first time. I don't even remember what your dad was doing but out of nowhere you just start laughing. And now you laugh all the time, except when I turn on the camera to record it then you stop. Figures. You are a stinker just like your big sister. You have also decided you are done with pacifiers which I'm loving. You are really interested in sucking your thumb or chewing on your hand but you don't want pacifiers when they are offered to you anymore. I'm definitely okay with that change.

You are an easy, happy kid and I can't get enough of you. You are an amazingly sweet kid with a fabulous personality. I love you so much my handsome little man.

Love, Mama
