Making the Cut: Getting Back To It

After Connor was born I was excited to get back to working out. I was feeling good and wanted to get right back to it, but I had to wait out my 8 weeks before I was cleared to go. My appointment was on a Friday and I was good to go. Then the next Monday I was up at 6 am ready to go. I talked Rob into doing the workout with me and also decided to do something easy to ease back into it.

I was pumped to actually get to exercise. But I was also a little sad. Thanks to crazy postpartum hormones I got irrationally sad at the thought that I would have to exercise for the rest of my life in order to maintain the weight I wanted and just feel good. So for some unexplained reason I decided I didn't want to exercise. I just didn't like the idea of having to do it pretty much every day for the rest of my life. It was a horrifying thought.

It's been a couple weeks and I wasn't feeling better. Exercise wasn't about losing the baby weight because honestly I'm only a few pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. This was just about being healthy and feeling good. Weight wasn't a concern for me. But I was tired of feeling crummy. I was tired of feeling tired and just not comfortable in my own skin.


So I decided I was going to start exercising again but I wasn't going to start with the beginner stuff I tried doing before. I wanted something that was going to make me sweat and really feel the burn. I wanted something that felt like it was making a difference. So I talked Rob into started Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution with me. I had done the workout before and I loved it so I wanted to start with it. (Read about it here, here and here.)

I can't go into a ton of details about how it's going because we just started but so far it is going well. I made it through the workout more than I thought I would be able to. And even better I felt really good after. I felt excited to start exercising and not the doom I felt before. I'm truly excited to really get back into this and start feeling better. Losing a little more weight would just be a bonus but I just want to be healthy and have the energy to keep up with my kids.
