Connor James: 4 Months

Dear Connor::

I can't get enough of you. You are the happiest littlest boy I have ever seen. You are constantly smiling and laughing. During this last month you have found your voice and you love to talk and make a ton of noise. You are growing like crazy. I can't believe how big you already are. But your little personality hasn't changed. You are just as happy and content as you were on day one.

You had a pretty big month. The biggest thing is that we moved you to your own room. We were going to wait for a couple more weeks but then we decided to go for it. You have done great. Occasionally you have some trouble at naptime but compared to many babies you are still pretty easy. Sleep is definitely something we don't have a problem with around here. You are so easy to put down. We have our own routine down now and it's working pretty well. We read - you are really interested in watching the books now - then sing and down you go. You do get a half-swaddle at naptime around your bottom half then at bedtime you don't get anything. Most of the time I put you down awake and walk away then that's it. But occasionally you fuss and cry and I have to calm you. Normally you are just content if I read or hush you and that's it. If I do have quiet you then it doesn't take very long.

At the end of this month you have started to have some trouble sleeping due to the 4-month wakeful period but otherwise you are still doing great. You take three naps a day. Your morning nap is usually a couple hours - and that's usually the one you wake up early from and scream at me for awhile during. Then you have your afternoon nap which is usually about three hours. And you have about an hour evening nap to keep you from getting overly tired for bedtime. You have a pretty easy routine now and it's pretty nice to have that now.

This month was also big because you rolled from your tummy to your back for the first time. You have done it several times then you don't do it for several days like you have forgotten then you do it again. Along with rolling you have started playing with more toys. With you are on your play mat you grab at your hanging toys to shake and study them. You are definitely more interested in the world around you and can't seem to get enough of what's around you. You are just trying to figure everything out.

You also seem to be a little water baby. We went swimming for the first time and you loved the water. You have never been a screamer doing bath time although you always look unsure of what's happening but you are mostly okay with it. You were the same in the pool for the first time, you were unsure but then you figured out there was nothing bad there and loved the water.

You are just about the most content kid I have ever seen. You don't really have a problem anywhere you are. People have made comments about how they never hear a peep from you when we are out. But you are full of smiles. You are a little mama's boy because you are always searching for me and definitely smile easily with me. You are just an easy little boy and I'm so happy to be your mom. I love you so much, little boy.

Love, Mama
