Making the Cut: A Change in Plan

I had no intention of ending my Killer series when I did because I was truly proud of myself and all that I had done. But I didn't have much choice in the matter. Basically I dislocated my knee and that put a halt to any plans to continue exercising as I was doing.

For the first time in years I was going to get my knee checked out (there is a blog coming in the next few weeks about all this so watch for that) and even more than that I couldn't do what I was doing without giving my knee a chance to heal. I knew I couldn't do anything more until my knee completely stopped hurting so I had to stop with my exercise plan.

I had finished the first level for two weeks and three days of the Killer Series (Killer Abs, Killer Arms & Back, Killer Buns & Thighs) and I had just finished my first week of level two. So basically I had one week of level two and two weeks of level three to go before I was finished. But I had to stop and that was actually pretty heartbreaking.

I had a plan and I was proud of the progress that I was seeing and how I was finally feeling. But I had to change the plan and do what I could. I took a few days to basically mope - I also got a bad cold on top of all that.

After taking about a week to mope and be angry about losing the progress, I decided to come up with a plan. I couldn't do what I wanted to do but that didn't mean I couldn't do anything at all. So I found a couple of challenges on Pinterest that last 21 days and 30 days and tackle those.

I have learned that I do best if I have a program to stick to when exercise, so I definitely wanted to find something for me. I also know that I needed things that basically involved no legs. So I went with a 21 Day Arms Challenge and a 30 Day Flat Abs Challenge.

I'm eleven days today on both challenges and I'll admit that this isn't exactly the hardest thing I have ever done. The arms challenge is definitely getting hard with the amount of reps three times through, but at least I'm feeling the burn at the end and feel like I'm not just wasting my time. As for the abs, it's not the most advanced thing but it's getting harder each day and I'm feeling it more and more, which is definitely helping.

So it's not a lot but it's something. I hope soon to be able to get back to things as normal - depending on what the doc says (again I'll post about my knee when I'm ready). But for now at least I'm doing something even if it doesn't seem like much.

Unrelated, this above quote is my new go-to when needing motivation. It's just a constant reminder that things change and there's something nothing you can do about it but fix your ponytail and tackle it head on.

Comment below: Those who have had injuries, especially knees, did you keep exercising and what did you do?

What is your go-to motivation? Do you have a favorite quote that keeps you going?
