Connor James: 11 Months

Dear Connor:

I have had a hard time believing that you are actually 11 months. That means that next month you are a year and that definitely seems impossible. How have you already been in our lives for a whole year? You should still be my cuddling little buddy instead of my active, constantly on the move big guy.

And I seriously mean constantly on the move. Your sister spoiled up a little by crawling so late and being so slow. You are a little speed demon. You have been crawling for months and you have only gotten faster. You are even faster now that you are you on your hands and knees when you crawl, and when you set your mind to something you go for it all the way. You have also mastered stairs - or at least going up stairs. I wish you would stop getting distracted halfway and try to sit down. We are no where close to figuring out going down yet, but we are working on it.

Lately you have been move scooting around furniture to get to what you want. You transfer between the ottoman and the couch and move around pretty quickly. We have started walking with you holding your hands and you are getting pretty good. You always walk around with a big smile on your face because you are loving that. You used to lean forward but lately you are straightening out. You will be walking before I know it. Lately you have been testing out the waters by letting go of things while standing for a second. You always grab back on quickly but for that split second you are on top of the world.

Because you are so fast we have deemed you the destroyer of all worlds. You are just into everything. I also call you my hurricane. You are so curious about everything so you are into everything. And with that speed you got going on, I have trouble keeping up (especially with this knee injury). But you are just trying to figure out the world and the way you do that is to dive in head first exploring.

Earlier during this last month you decided to drop your morning nap, leaving us with one nap a day. I was definitely sad to see it go and sometimes I still think you need it but every time I try you just cry and scream so I always give up and we go back to playing. But that means you are definitely ready when you go down for your afternoon nap at one every day. You usually end up sleeping until about 4 every day because you are just so worn out. But I'll take one really good nap over two so-so naps. Your night time sleeping is mostly good. In the last two weeks or so you have recently started waking up in the middle of the night again and we pretty much have to give you a bottle to get you back down. I think you are forming a habit and we will need to break it, but we have to figure out why you are doing it. It's slowly getting better but as cute as you are we aren't so pleased to see you at 2 in the morning.

The biggest thing easily from this month is that you are inclusively on table foods. It's so nice to not have to buy purees and even nicer that you can feed yourself. You are still having about three-four bottles a day. And you have three meals with some snacks of Puffs in-between some days. You pretty much love all food. We knew you were ready because you were so hungry all the time and just eating more and more. You wanted more so we started on table foods and you are loving it. You are a cheese lover like your dad and sister and I recently learned you love chicken nuggets too. It's been quite a new experience figuring out to feed a baby new to table foods again, but we are getting there and slowly figuring it out.

You are such a playful happy kid. Easily your favorite person is your sister. You get so excited when she gets home from school everyday and equaling as excited about seeing her after nap time. You chase her around and just want to play with her. I love how happy you are and how into the world you are. You are easy-going and just content all the time.

Although you wear me out and sometimes frustrated me endless, I can't get enough of you. You are my rainbow baby and I'm not ready for you to turn one yet. This year went by too fast. But I can't imagine you not in our lives. You make this family even better. I love you so much kid.

Love, Mama
