Purees Just Aren't Cutting It Anymore

So way back when Addie was just a little thing I had some serious anxiety about switching to table foods. How do you know what to feed them? How do you know that they are getting enough? How do I know I cut the pieces small enough? What if they have a reaction to something? What if they choke?

Apparently even though I've done it before that anxiety still showed up when we started running out of purees for Connor and I realized it was time to switch him to table foods. I always said that Addie was an eater and she still is a great eater but Connor is even more so. He will eat anything you put in front of him. He has never rejected anything.

But we noticed he was hungrier. The purees weren't holding him like they used to which meant he was hungry and grumpy. So we started giving him more table foods in addition to his purees and he loved it. He just couldn't get enough of it but we still had a good amount of purees that we wanted to get rid of so table foods for all meals would just have to wait.

Much like I did with Addison I started giving him table foods at dinner with us then he had the purees for lunch. I worried that he wouldn't eat the purees after having table foods but apparently he's easy and just wanted food no matter the form.

But then one day we ran out of purees. And all the sudden I had a 10 month old on my hands who needed actual food for every meal. And because life has gotten the better of me lately, I was completely unprepared. I didn't have much in the house to get him and realized quickly I had to start planning for a baby eating table foods again. He couldn't just eat the foods Addie was having yet so I had to think it through to make sure he was getting everything he needed each meal.

Luckily I already knew he loved turkey and deli turkey cut up to his size was easy enough. But he can't live on turkey alone, so that meant I needed more food. Of course it's not really all that challenging. I gathered a fruit and a vegetable to go with the turkey and cheese he had each lunch time. Dinner was easy enough because he has whatever we were having only deconstructed.

I don't have it all figured out. But honestly does anyone ever truly have this parenting thing figured out? But he seems to be transitioning well and loving the table foods. And I'm pleased with how things are going and how well he's taking to new foods and just table foods in general.
