Connor James: 13 Months

Dear Connor:

Well we made it past the year mark which seems pretty much impossible. I can't believe how big you are getting. You are just growing too fast. But here we are so time for mama to catch up.

So far the first month of your second year has been good. We finally got out of a killer long Wonder Week and just in time for Daylight Savings Time, which means wacky sleep. However the bonus to this time of the year is that you have decided to start sleeping in. You used to get up somewhere between 7 and 7:30 and now you are getting up anywhere from 9:00 to 10:00. I have definitely enjoyed the bonus sleep-in time from you. And even better is that you are still napping normally, going down about 1:00 and getting up somewhere between 3:00 and 4:00. I'm definitely not going to complain about that. You have your occasional off day where you don't sleep great but you are pretty much an awesome sleeper.

The biggest thing for us was definitely finishing bottles and formula. Do you know how much money we are saving now?! Plus we are saving a crazy amount of time not having to deal with bottles. It was actually a very easy transition dropping the bottles. I worried how you would handle no bottles at nap time and bedtime but you transitioned like it was nothing. There was no differences in how he was sleeping before to how he sleeps now. That was definitely a relief.  Unfortunately you aren't such a fan of whole milk so I am struggling trying to get you drink that. The plus side is that you don't have to have a set amount of milk but just as long as you are getting enough dairy through other means. But that doesn't mean I'm going to give up on the whole milk yet.

You are so ready to walk. You just want to go. You are scooting around furniture like it's nothing. You love to find things to walk behind. And you always have the biggest smile on your face when we are walking around with you. As soon as you figure out how to not lean so far forward you will be off. You are definitely ready to be walking.

For as many awesome things you are doing right now, you have a couple that I could do without. You are going through a major mama stage which I don't mind so much but when it's so bad that I can't walk more than two steps away from you before you start crying then that's kind of annoying. It also makes days really long but we are getting through. I guess we are facing a little bit of separation anxiety. The bonus is you don't have to be right on top of me all the time, just as long as it's you that leaves and not me. We are definitely working through that right now.

You are a pretty happy boy now that the weather is getting decent. You love going out for walks and checking out everything. You love playing outside, especially riding in your car and swinging. You spend less time ripping books apart and more time actually looking at them now. You do love being read to, and you have your favorite books (Blue Hat, Green Hat and It's a Wonderful World). You love stacking things and love knocking them down even more. You love playing with your sister in the play kitchen and playing catch. I have never heard you laugh louder, longer, and more than when you are playing wit your sister. You two just adore each other.

You are growing up so fast and I love how amazing you are. Sometimes we don't groove together and we have rough days but I can't imagine now having you in my life. I am so lucky to be your mom and I love you so much, goon.

Love, Mama
