Connor James: 14 Months

Dear Connor::

You are my little goon. And you are growing too fast. You have had quite the month this last month and I'm not 100% sure I'm ready for all you are taking on.

Early on in this month you started going down stairs. You have been going up for awhile but you just weren't sure about going down. But we worked with you turning around and you not happily started going down. You really preferred being carried. And when you wanted to actually did go down, it was more like a belly slide. You like going faster I guess. We were actually having a problem with you and stairs when we had the gates up you liked to stand at the top of the gates and edge your way to the stairs, play with the gates while you were still on the stairs, or just shake the heck out of the gates at the top when they were closed. It was making me really nervous actually. But as soon as we took down the gates, you stopped messing around so much on the stairs and started turning around right away at the top of the stairs when you wanted to go down or didn't even go near the stairs at all. You are a mystery sometimes.

You have become a lot more playful this month. You have definite likes and dislikes to playtime. One of your favorite things is peek-a-boo. You cover your face with hands then fly them open again with a big smile on your face. Or you will peek around the corner then hide again quickly. Or as simple as putting a blanket over your head then emerging again with a huge smile on your face. You have also gotten an interest in cars and playing in the play kitchen. Sometimes you just sit and examine things, sometimes you just bang things together or even throw things. But you are always playing and always checking things out. I have also learned that you have a deep love for Mickey just like your sister. If we are just having a bad day, I turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and you instantly start smiling.

Another new things just in the last few weeks is an interest in books. Once upon a time you would sit there and try to figure out how to tear a book apart but not so much anymore. Now you pull books off the shelf and either sit there and flip through them or bring them to me to read. After the book is over you sign more and we start all over again. At nap time I tell you to get a book to read and you go over and bring me a book. You just can't seem to get enough of books these days.

There are a few things I have learned about you that has been different than your sister already. You like to be right with me all the time. She would be sit independently keep herself busy. You like to climb all over me or sit next to me while playing. She would sit by herself and watch movies, you like to sit on my lap to watch Mickey. You seem to really like the cuddles. In some ways you are a bit more affectionate though. You have already started blowing kisses which I always get plenty of at bedtime.

You definitely like to go out and about. Often times when you want to go out you head over to the ottoman where we keep our shoes and bring a shoe to me. Or when I grab our shoes and jackets to go out you hold your arms out for your jacket. You love getting out and get excited as soon as I grab my shoes. You don't seem to care where we go, you just want to go.

The biggest thing from this month is that you took some steps all by yourself. You aren't officially walking and sometimes we really have to coax you into it but you are getting stronger and better. You are standing independently a lot more and even pushing yourself to standing in the middle of a room. You don't even really how steady you are yet. We even walk around the house holding just one hand and you do awesome. You will be on the move on those quick little legs soon enough. It just a matter of time.

You are just changing so fast and definitely keeping me on my toes. I'm constantly telling your dad how goofy you are. You just make us laugh on a daily basis. You are so active and curious. You like to cuddle and be involved. You are just an amazing little boy and I am so blessed to be your mom. I love you so much goon.

Love, Mama
