A Day in the Life: 5 Year & 20 Month Edition

7:34 -- The littlest is awake and talking in his crib.

I have stopped setting an alarm in the morning and Rob keeps ignoring his so Connor is our alarm. It's just been one of those weeks. I would love to start getting up in the morning to workout before the kids get up again but I just seem to lack motivation and desire.

7:52 -- Rob gets up to get Connor who is clearly not going back to sleep.

7:59 -- Connor is all about Daddy hugs this morning but since Rob has to go to work today I get up. I change into my workout clothes.

Rob is finally able to temporarily put Connor down to get dressed.

8:13 -- We head downstairs which by the way I notice we had a big ol' parenting fail in not making them pick up the night before and now I have to move stuff out of my way so I can workout. I also get breakfast going for Connor. There is still no sound from Addie's room.

8:17 -- Rob heads off to work.

8:22 -- Connor sits down to eat breakfast and pick up a little bit more, stalling.

8:32 -- I decide to go ahead and exercise. I run the risk of Addison getting up and needing breakfast in the middle but I'm tired of waiting and just want to get it done!

8:53 -- I'm done and I'm glad I didn't wait. Still no Addison.

9:02 -- Finally she comes downstairs all smiles.

9:07 -- I get Addie breakfast and head upstairs for a quick shower and to get dressed. (I turned on a Mickey episode for Connor who I knew would just sit and watch and just as I thought he was exactly where I left him.)

9:27 -- I get the kids laundry started and get them dressed for the day.

Now I know there is stuff to do including a lot of dusting and straightening but I just want to sit and do nothing for a few minutes.

9:31 -- I decide I need to get up and moving quickly because if I sit there too long I won't get back up again.

10:22 -- It took me way longer than it should have to dust and straighten. I did a little extra cleaning but I didn't expect it would take me an hour. But I'm also playing catch up since I neglected the house last week.

The kids meanwhile moved to coloring after Mickey was over.

11:00 -- Lunch time! They pretty much have the same thing every day. They both have yogurt covered raisins, chips, and cheese. Connor has chicken nuggets and Addison has corn dogs. I flip from lunch to lunch these days because I just can't settle on what I like. Today I'm having a salad.

11:30 -- They are done with lunch with only a chip or so left they run back for every now and again. And now we are just killing time before school.

12:05 -- We head out the door when my alarm goes off.

12:36 -- Connor fell asleep in the car and I move him up to his crib for his nap. He woke a bit today because I forgot to change this diaper before we left and now I need to get him in a clean one. I hold my breath and hope he just turns over when I'm down and settles back to sleep. Luckily he does with one more smile at me before I leave.

I head downstairs. As productive as my morning was I wasn't as productive this afternoon. I knew I had a little bit to take care of but before I did that I watched some Property Brothers and ate chips. No regrets on those choices!

3:00 -- I wake Connor up and we head out the door because it's time to get sis again.

He may not be very happy with me for always waking him up but he doesn't mind too much since he always gets a pouch and the run of the car (once we get to the parking lot and parked of course). Maybe one day my car will be clean again.

3:47 -- Home again. They have a little snack then go back to coloring - that is seriously all they have wanted to do these last few days.

5:06 - I start making dinner which takes about 20 minutes total and pretty much it's just prep then it's a sheet pan dinner, so way to very little cleanup.

5:34 -- Time for dinner. The hubs isn't home yet but we get started anyway.

5:46 -- The hubs is home!

6:00 -- We finish dinner and I do the dishes in less than five minutes while Rob gets the kids ready to go out to Target.

7:25 -- We are back home and now it's time to get Connor cleaning up. He dumped out a ton of blocks today and the entire basket of crayons. That's not an easy thing to do with a 1 year old but he's gotta learn. We only had to go to time out once for not listening then trying to push me over (he pushes things over when he's angry but he picked something too big and heavy for him to push over but I knew he was doing so there's that).

7:42 -- Time to get the kids to bed.

7:54 -- Apparently my new dinner was not successful or filling, they needed to snack. Connor was screaming his head off so I asked if he was hungry and nothing. I asked if he was thirsty, nothing. Then I asked if he wanted a cracker and I got a very strong 'yea.' So we let them have a couple of crackers before we try again getting to bed.

8:04 -- Connor declared he was done and headed upstairs, he even said 'read.'

Addison was quick to follow behind.

8:11 -- I read to Connor and now he's down. Rob is meanwhile reading to Addison.

8:19 -- The hubs is back downstairs which means Addie is down too.

I turn on the World Series (although my team isn't in it, I'm cheering for Astros), watch a YouTube video, and work on this very post. Rob heads to the office to play video games for a bit before we head upstairs.

And that was our day.
