Connor James: 21 Months

Dear Connor::

We are approaching two too fast. I'm not ready for a two year old yet. You should still be my little baby, not a toddler. I definitely love the moments where I get cuddles especially since those are few and far between. I love myself some Connor hugs.

You definitely keep me on my toes. You are constantly moving and exploring. You move a hundred miles per hour. But the remarkable part is that if you find something you love, you stick with it with a a kind of patience I didn't know you had. There are really only a few things that keep your attention like that though. Cars, building, Mickey and Moana are your top favorite things. You do love books and often bring me books to read to you. You are constantly pointing to my phone wanting me to turn on the soundtrack to Moana because it's hands down your favorite. You are a fan of dancing but the music has to be just right for you to really groove.

You are tough as nails though. You are doing a lot of walking up and down the stairs but one day you didn't get your foot far enough in front of you and suddenly you are tumbling down the stairs. You went head over toes until I caught you at the very last step before you would have hit the hardwood. You cried for a bit and ended up with a little bruise by your eye but no worse for wear otherwise. You are pretty tough which is good because you are pretty clumsy. You are constantly tripping over your own feet or my feet or just any old thing on the ground.

You are so expressive. You aren't saying a lot but you have found ways to communicate. You definitely understand us and can answer by shaking or nodding your head when we ask you questions. You are using a lot of sign language to communicate with a few words here and there. You don't do a ton of independent talking but a lot more mimicking and copying, but at least you are starting somewhere. You are definitely behind where other kids are of the same age but I don't feel like you are so far behind that you need help at this point.

You are a bit more of a picky eater. You definitely like what you like and sometimes it's hard to get to try something new, however you are constantly surprising me when you do go for something new I never would have expected. You definitely have your favorite foods however. You love chicken nuggets for lunches, but really for any meal I make them for you. You love pouches and these peanut butter chocolate chip bites I make. And since Halloween you have discovered a love for all things chocolate.

You are still a good sleeper. You definitely get up earlier than your sister ever did, but it could definitely be worse. I'll take a 7 am wake up time rather than five or six. You usually sleep about 11 hours every night which I definitely don't have any problems with. On top of that you take one good nap a day usually going down about 12:30 to 12:40, sometimes in the car after dropping off your sister at school, then I have to wake you up at 3 to go pick up your sister again. Often times you would sleep longer if I let you. You definitely like your naps. And you definitely need them because you have a serious grumpy gene if you are too tired or too hungry.

You are really a fun kid. You are funny and constantly making us laugh. You are a bit of a cheeseball but have so much personality. You are just a unique little boy and I'm lucky to be your mom. I love you so much, goon.

Love, Mama
