Connor James: 2 Years

Dear Connor::

I don't know how it happened but somehow you are now two years old! You are such a beautiful, smart, hilarious and amazing little boy. We are so lucky to have you in our lives.

Twos are coming at us like a lion. You definitely have ideas of how things should go and what you want, which interestingly enough doesn't always go along with what I think. Despite how much we butt heads about things, you are definitely a mama's boy. You don't mind doing some wrestling and playing with daddy but when it comes down it, you want mama. You and me are always together; you are definitely my buddy.

Lately you have been going through a lazy streak. Whenever you drop something, you act like it's so far down that you will never be able to get it. You get half bent over make some kind of moaning-reaching noise then start crying because you just can't pick it up. It's half funny and half frustrating. We are definitely inching closer to two everyday and I have definitely been able to tell.

You are very independent and there are many things you want to do for yourself but at the same time there are so many things you want me to do for you. You want it both ways which can make for some long days when you just don't want know what you want. There are just days that you are just crying and I don't think even you know why you are so upset.

 As much as you love me, you adore your sister. This started about a month ago that you just started following your sister around and wanting to be just like her. Sometimes it's frustrating because if she is doing something she shouldn't be, you just go right along with it. It's great though seeing you two play together. I hope you guys always stay friends and watch out for each other.

Lately your little boy has been showing because you are all about monsters and dinosaurs. You keep choosing Monsters Inc to watch because you just can't get enough of monsters. You make the most adorable monster sounds and you are so serious about it. Dinosaurs are another favorite of yours. Your dinosaur and monster sounds are pretty much the same, but when you are a dinosaur you do a lot of chasing. It's pretty adorable...I mean scary.

You are pretty opinionated about what you eat. Things i think you will eat, you don't. And things I don't expect you to eat, you will. Sometimes even your favorite things, you refuse to eat. I think it's just part of the twos. But we are getting through and you don't starve so somehow I find something you will eat.

Even though eating has been a bit of a fight lately, you are still sleeping pretty good. For the most part you are sleeping about 12 hours at night, sometimes it's only about 10 hours but still you sleeping really well. You still sleep really well at naptime each day. You normally have about a 2 hour nap because I have to wake you up to get your sister from school, but otherwise you would sleep longer. Even though you are two, you are still in your crib. We aren't ready to convert you to a toddler bed. You haven't tried to climb out - or throw yourself out - so we are just going to leave you be. You are happy with your crib as is with your pillows - you love your pillows - and your stuffed animals. You have several in there, mostly for you to play with while you are waiting for us to get you, but you love Pluto and Mickey mostly. You also sleep under two blankets and one pillow.

You have so much personality and so many opinions about things. I love that you are my buddy. You are just an amazing little boy. I just can't believe you are two already. Times has flown, but those times have been amazing with you in our lives. I love watching you grow up and become the little boy you are becoming. I love so much little boy.

Love, Mama
