Bump to Baby: 18 Weeks

You are now five and a half inches long and around six ounces. And you look so much like a baby now. This week you have mastered yawning and hiccuping. This week is big because your nervous system is maturing and all the connections they need to make to your brain is happening. Plus those connections develop into your senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. You are becoming more aware of what is happening outside of your little womb and into the outside world.

This was another rough week. I threw up on the first day of the new week then again three days later. I could really do without all the
throwing up but at least it seems to be getting better. The crankiness I had from last week seems to have carried over some but it was a bit of a stressful week all in all. My belly is getting bigger which definitely makes me uncomfortable and it makes it hard to sleep. I am slowly finding a way to be more comfortable but it involves multiple pillows. Food is both easier and harder right now. I don’t have a lot of aversions but I also don’t have a lot of things that sound good either. But I’m finding things. The fresher the better for sure and also smaller meals at once is easier all around for me.

This was a big week for us because we had our big anatomy scan. I am always nervous about the ultrasounds and appointments because of my past but it wasn’t until the day of that the nervous sunk in. But I was also excited. I wanted to see our baby again and I wanted to know if we were having a boy or a girl. We didn’t care either way but we were excited to know either way. We headed to my appointment with all kinds of nerves. But the appointment went awesome. We told her right off that we wanted to know the gender if possible. And she started the important part of the scan. She took lots of measurements and of course checked that everything looked exactly like it should. And then we found out that we were having another girl. I was right all along! This was the first time I thought we were having a girl and I turned out to be right. Addison is really excited to be getting a sister which was what she wanted and Connor is too young to care. We are thrilled either way and thrilled that she is measuring where she should and everything is looking like it should.
