Connor James: 29 Months

Dear Connor:

You are so exhausting. You are frustrating. You wear me out on a daily basis. But I can't imagine life without you. You are my baby boy and there is definitely no one quite like you in the world. You just make life so amazing.

Little boy you are a mess. I am a clumsy person by nature but you take the cake. Some of your clumsiness is your own fault and some it is just a bunch of bad luck. You tend to walk looking in another direction which has meant a lot of close calls running into things especially corners. Then you have the bad luck of recently running into the back of the vacuum as I was pulling it back which swelled your eye up and gave you a little bruise. Then in that same day you fell off a chair and came up with a mouth full of blood having taken a serious bite out of your tongue. You are something else. But you always get right back up. You are a tough kid.

I am so happy with how much talking you are doing. You understand so much. Sometimes you even take your dad by surprise when he realizes how much you understand in a conversation. It's getting harder to get things by you these days. I love how responsive you are and that you are tell me so much. You definitely have those two-year-old moments that all you do is scream at me, but we get there figuring out what you want.

Speaking of two-year-old moments, you have some attitude. You are stubborn and we have definitely had some power struggles. When you get mad you will scream at least once, cross your arms, turn your back and put her chin in the air. It doesn't usually last long but there is definitely a stubborn-streak in you.

One of our most recent battles has been over food. You and I definitely don't see eye-to-eye about what you should be eating. I remember going through these battles with your sister but you are a bit more stubborn about it. I know you won't starve but boy do you get cranky when you are hungry. You are definitely a bit of a picky-eater which can make things challenging but we are figuring it out and trying to keep you on a somewhat balanced diet.

You definitely love to play. Your favorite toys right now is definitely your Avenger superheroes. They are always battling each other or dinosaurs. You are all about the superheroes. A close second is trains and cars. You are always carrying around a train or a car. But even with all the active playing you do, you still love a good books. We read to you at naptime and bedtime each other and sometimes in-between. You love your sister reading to you too. And I know that you spend some time looking at books in your bed after we leave your room each nap or bedtime. Just like your sister, you always have at least one book in bed when you go to bed each night.

You are one of my very favorite human beings. You are such an amazing kid. Even on the days when you screaming at me all day and the days that you wake up in the morning much earlier than I want you to, I feel so lucky to be your mom. It has been amazing watching you grow up and I can't wait to see what the next month brings. I love you so much, goon.

Love, Mama
