Bump to Baby: 22 Weeks

You have finally hit the one pound mark! You are about the size of the papaya now at about 11 inches long. Your senses are really developing this week. You are really exploring your sense of touch which includes your grip strengthening. Your sense of sight is also becoming stronger which means you can perceive light and dark although unless we actually shine a flashlight at my belly, it's all dark in there. You can hear pretty well now from voices to my heartbeat. Your eyes and lips are also more developed now making you look more and more like a newborn.

This was a busy week. And a hungry week. I have definitely been hungrier lately. I am not struggling like I once did but it still
happens on occasion. I have been doing much better lately finding food and not throwing it up. It's actually pretty rare for me to actually throw up. The only time I did this week was in the morning after I put some toner on my face and the smell was so strong that it made me sick. But otherwise I'm much better. However in an odd turn of events I have been struggling with taking my prenatals lately. I can get through my biggest one just fine but my folic acid which is just a medium size round one, I always choke on and just can't seem to get down. Another thing about pregnancy I had completely forgot about was how I get charlie horses in my calves while I'm sleeping. It sucks and it hurts. I had a really painful one a few nights ago that felt like it last forever although it was probably only a few seconds really. I have also started getting the pain under my shoulder blade and in my ribs on my right side already. I had this pain with your brother and sister which my doctor said was just a skeletal issue but boy it is painful. Otherwise I have just been enjoying feeling you kicking and moving around like crazy. You are definitely active.

I have been one of the lucky few women that when I get pregnant I only gain the weight of the baby. With my first two I only gained about 14-15 pounds total throughout the entire pregnancy which I pretty much lost once they were born. This one seems to be on the same track as those two pregnancies. Since getting pregnant, I have only gained about 2 pounds. That does unfortunately mean I don't always look pregnant but I look like I just had a big lunch which the hubs was dumb enough to tell me after taking my 22 week picture. But that doesn't mean I don't have a baby bump because I definitely do and I definitely don't fit into my old clothes so much anymore. All my regular shorts  are a no go without the belly band which I hate wearing, but I'm not going to buy maternity shorts at this point since summer is almost over and this is our last one. I have slowly been making the change over to maternity clothes which are mostly fall/winter clothes that don't do me a lot of good on these 90 degree days that are still hanging around. I'm actually surprised I haven't gained more weight lately since I feel like all I have been doing is eating. I still have a few months to go so you never know how much I might suddenly gain now that I seem to have stopped throwing up, but I'm feeling like it's going to be pretty similar to my last two pregnancies which truthfully would be okay with me.
