Connor James: 30 Months

Dear Connor::

This has been a rough month kiddo. The twos have not been kind to us this month. But things have been a little crazy in general and you just haven't been able to really get your feet under you and find the right routine. But hopefully things will settle down and we will be able to calm down.

The beginning of this month we were still at the beach which you both liked and didn't at the same time. You are definitely my creative of habit and being there just knocked you totally off. But overall you did great. Surprisingly you weren't too fond of the water and spent most of your time playing in the sand which was fine, but I definitely expected to not being able to get you out of the water.

Once we got home from the beach you and your sister fought constantly. You guys just couldn't see eye-to-eye about anything. You guys were constantly disagreeing which wore on me nonstop. And sometime in there you picked up a terrible habit of screaming like a dying animal. It's an awful noise that feels like your ears are burning. Although I would take that over the hitting you have started doing. We have been doing a lot more disciplining this month because we just can't let the hitting go. As for the screaming, we try to settle you down and when that doesn't work we ignore you and you just give up not having any attention.

However now that your sister has started school, things have settled a little. You are definitely enjoying having the run of the house and being an only child. It does make for tough evenings and weekends when you have to adjust to having your sister around again but things are definitely better than they were. You are my buddy during the day and you are loving it.

We finally made the move and got you a big boy bed this month too. You were so crammed in your toddler bed that we decided we needed to make that change. You were pretty excited. Of course a little less excited when you fell out of bed the first night, cracking your head on your night stand and breaking your lamp. We ended up taking off the frame to lower you a little bit and you slept well the rest of the night. In fact you actually slept in for the first time in a long time which was a nice change. But you definitely gave us a scare.

You are pretty active all the time. You are constantly running which is the best thing to watch those little legs go. Lately you have been trying to hop. You aren't able to get both feet off the ground at the same time but you have been trying. I think you are actually getting slightly off the ground now which makes you so happy. It's pretty adorable watching you hop around the room.

You are loving all things Legos lately. Most of the Legos are too old for you but you do great with them. Luckily you aren't a kid that puts things in your mouth otherwise you would be out of luck with the Legos. You love all the cars and planes. However you aren't the most gentle in the world and I spend a lot of time putting them back together again. The other thing you are constantly doing these days is building train tracks. I have built some pretty cool tracks for you and you just run the trains along. Then you start taking them apart and putting them back together yourself.

You are fiercely independent but also very needy at the same time. You have definitely been wearing me out of this month but we are hanging in there and trying to figure out what works best for you. Despite all the difficulty of this month, you are an amazing little boy. You are creative and smart. You are funny and talkie. You move constantly and are definitely a mama's boy. I can't imagine life without you even on our worst days. I love you, goon.

Love, Mama
