Bump to Baby: 23 Weeks

You measure about 11.4 inches long and weigh about 1.1 pounds these days, which makes you about the size of an eggplant. This is a huge week because your face is now fully formed now. However you are missing all the baby fat that makes you the plump adorable baby you will be when you are born, but you will definitely be working on that over the next few months before you were born. You are mostly just listening to everything right now. And you are definitely moving around a lot in there, kicking and twisting and flipping.

This was a tough week, girly girl. You have been kicking and moving like crazy, which definitely gives me the peace of mind about you. But between hormones, your brother's terrible twos, technology issues and bad sleeping, it's been a long tough week. You are growing like crazy in there because my belly is getting bigger and you are making my ribs and a spot under my shoulder blade hurt (those spots hurt every pregnancy, it's awful). Your father made a comment a few days ago about how it's amazing I can sleep at all with you moving around so much at night. You are definitely active in there. I also seemed to have caught a cold this week which has definitely not helped with anything. I have felt pretty awful and run-down this week. I have been much hungrier lately but I'm struggling finding food and I don't always feel good after eating. Finding the right foods and finding the right balance has been a big struggle lately.

How far along: 23 weeks. My due date is December 23 - Christmas baby.

How big is baby: You are the size an eggplant and over 1 pound in weight now!

Total weight gain: I have only gained about 2-3 pounds. It took me a long time to stop throwing up and actually get hungry again so the weight gain is slowly happening even if my belly is feeling much better these days.

Clothes: I pretty much wear maternity only now or my regular pants with my belly band but that's pretty uncomfortable. Most of my regular clothes don't fit unless it was a long shirt to begin with.

Purchases: I have bought some stuff to decorate your room now. I also have gotten your coming-home-from-the-hospital outfit which I love and is so adorable. I don't really need to buy much other than what I need for your room, diapers and maybe a couple of sleepers.

Movement: You are constantly moving. You have quite the kick and even your dad can feel you in there. You have lately starting kicking into my ribs which is just plain painful.

Sleep: It's not great. I have been having trouble getting comfortable these days and that's pretty frustrating. I could definitely be sleeping better.

Food cravings/aversions: I haven't had a lot of cravings in general. I had a really good meal at Texas Roadhouse and I have been thinking about that meal lately. I have also been craving a meat pizza from Papa John's but otherwise not much in the way of cravings. The aversions are a lot more. Ground beef is gross. Eggs are so-so. Chicken breast is a no-no. I have been seriously struggling with food in general lately.

What I miss: Hoagie sandwiches. I really really really want a hoagie sandwich. I also miss not having pain in my back and ribs. I miss sleeping on my tummy too.

What I'm looking forward to: I have another ultrasound coming up and I'm looking forward to seeing her again. And of course for December when she actually gets here (just over 100 more days).

Husband update: He's not getting kicked in the ribs so he's doing good. He does take advantage of my cravings sometimes and gets something extra for him when we go grocery shopping. But otherwise he is good. He did tell me that he didn't want to hear about how many days were left until my due date but he's excited about meeting her.
