Connor James: 32 Months

Dear Connor::

You are exhausting. I mean that in the best possible way but little boy, you wear me out. You definitely keep me on my toes. Sometimes I joke that my job is just to keep you alive. I have seriously never seen anyone fall as much as you. However watching where you walk might help with that problem. Luckily you always just get back up again and keep going.

This last month was a little rough on the napping. You definitely still need a nap but you haven't been so crazy about taking one every day. There are days you fall right to sleep and there are other days that you fight the urge to lay down then I have to deal with a very cranky you the rest of the day. Which is weird when you consider that there are the other days that when I wake you up to go pick up Addison from school you are so cranky and mad at me. We haven't quite found that right balance yet or the right time for naptime to start maybe.

You seem to be going through another phase where you just don't want to eat. It's really frustrating. You breakfast pretty well. You are usually good at lunch although sometimes I have to remind you to sit down and eat. But dinner time comes around and you refuse to eat. It's probably the reason why you are so eager to eat breakfast because you are starving by the time you wake up in the morning. However I have learned that if there are corn involved then you will happily eat.

You are definitely all about being independent these days. You want to do things yourself. I have learned to never open your cheese at lunch because you get so mad. But the problem is that sometimes that independence leads to you being angry because you can't do everything yourself. It's a tough balance for you right now. But at least it seems the worst of the terrible twos has passed and we are doing a better job of balancing what I still need to do for you and what you can do yourself.

What makes it all easier is how much you are talking. And you are hilarious. You are doing a lot of repeating still but sometimes the things that come out of your mouth just makes me laugh. You have taken to saying "oh pickles" whenever something doesn't go your way which is one of my favorite things ever. You also do tend to talk in 3rd person, which is pretty cute. I just love listening to you talk and it's so easy to understand you now. The only time I struggle to understand you is when are really tired or upset.

You still love the same stuff: superheros, trains and cars. You ask to watch Mickey on a regular basis. You are pretty easy to easy to please actually. Every day you spend time building. Sometimes it's just train tracks and sometimes you are building with blocks, but you build something daily. You love books too. I am constantly having to tell you to put the books down and close your eyes at nap time. You tell me that Connor wants to read. You always have books in your bed and there are books all over your room. I love that you are a reader too. You can get to 'C' when saying the alphabet and you can also count to four now. You are doing a great job.

I feel so lucky to be your mom. You are so unique and smart and funny. You wear me out but it's all worth it because you are just worth it. You are an awesome little boy and we are lucky that you are all ours. I love you so much, goon.

Love, Mama
