Bump to Baby: 32 Weeks

You are now weigh almost four pounds and are about 15-17 inches long. You aren't exactly giant but you are definitely gaining that weight and size you need in order to be born. Now all your vital organs are developed and ready to go for birth. However you still need more time for your lungs. Now it's just about practicing those breaths. You are also honing your other skills such as swallowing, kicking and sucking. You are looking and acting much more like a newborn now, which includes your skin no longer transparent. You have regular sleep and awake cycles now which means you already have a pretty regular schedule which definitely revolves around my movements and awake and sleep cycles.

This has been a tough physical week. My back and rib cage is hurting more and more which is causing me a lot of discomfort. I actually lost my appetite towards the last part of the week and struggled even more with eating. I just couldn't find anything to eat but that was mostly because I wasn't hungry. It was really odd because I've been really hungry constantly for weeks now but then suddenly I was having to force myself to eat. I don't know if it has to do with where you are or if it's just an off week for me. Speaking of where you are, you seem like you are pretty low because I can feel you when you have the hiccups almost in my pelvis. Also I can definitely tell you are running out of space in there because all your jabs and kicks are a little more painful. My hips have started hurting a bit more this week. I can tell that my body is definitely changing slightly to get ready for your arrival and it gets hard to move at times. But I'm making it and doing the best I can. It's just been a rough week and definitely ready for fresh start even if the chances of things being exactly the same are pretty good. At least this week will be passed.

The kids are definitely excited about the idea of adding a little sister to the family. Addison is mostly just excited about having a sister, although I'm not sure she really remembers what having a baby around the house means because she was only 3 when Connor was born. She had expressed more interest in Emma than she did with Connor. She had been very interested in feeling Emma moving and kicking around. She was so pleased when she actually got to feel Emma kicking. For Connor, it's pretty much all lost on him. If you ask him where Emma is, he will tell you that she's in mama's belly but he doesn't really know what that means and that we are talking about a baby. He saw us put together Emma's room and often tells me that he wants to play in Emma's room. Lately we have been talking about how he's going to be a big brother and he's pretty excited to say that he's a big brother, but still not sure he really understands what that means. His world is definitely going to be turned upside down when Emma comes - he's quite the mama's boy. But we have been talking about Emma more and about what will happen when Emma comes. I've been trying to prepare Addison some for when I go into labor that we will be in the hospital for a couple days and what that means exactly. She's pretty down for that because she just wants to spend time with grandma and papa, and even more excited about the idea of grandma dropping her off and picking her up from school. I don't know the kids completely know or understand how our family will change with her arrival but I do think they will do awesome and be amazing big siblings to their baby sister.
