Bump to Baby: 35 Weeks

You are not about 18 inches tall and about five-and-a-quarter pounds. You are just continuing to gain weight and all I can ask for is that you don't gain weight too quickly at this point which there is a chance of that since I have gestational diabetes. But at this point you will gain another pound or another couple pounds before you actually come. You are definitely putting on that baby fat which we have already been able to see in ultrasounds that you have some pretty adorable crummy cheeks already. Right now your skull is still soft which makes it possible for you to get through the birth canal although your brain is just developing. Otherwise you are just working on those lungs at this point to get them strong enough to breathe on your own when you are born.

This has been a crazy week but I guess that's the week of Thanksgiving for you. We have been busy
which has just worn me out more. Most nights I'm getting up about three or four times a night but there was the occasional night I only have like two trips to the bathroom which is a nice change. I'm definitely feeling worn out in general but that's just the end of a pregnancy for ya. My body is feeling pretty sore and achy. You are head down with your feet curled up into my ribs. You seem to like to push up on my rib cage and it's pretty painful. I'm continue to struggle to find things to wear this point and ready to be able to wear most of my wardrobe again after you come. We are definitely getting close to full term which makes me more nervous but also more excited. I am just ready for you to be here. Even more so since the food struggle since continues a little. I'm not having too much luck controlling my gestational diabetes and I'm struggling with finding the right balance. But I'm getting better and figuring out what works best. It will be nice to not have to think so hard about every single thing I eat.

The biggest struggle lately has definitely meal planning. It's a much more involved process than it used to be since I have to be careful with how many carbs I am having. Meal planning has been hard enough through this entire pregnancy since I have had to figure out what I even want to eat. But now the struggle is figuring out what's okay to have that will hopefully keep my blood sugars at the right level. So now when I plan I have to go through the recipe and the ingredients and figure out how many carbs are in the meal and how much of something I can eat. It's truly takes a long time to get through the entire process. Not to mention the entire process continues to be a struggle since I still don't know what I want to eat.
