A Day in the Life: 6.4 Year, 35 Month & 2 Month Edition

5:31 -- Emma is awake and ready to eat. It has been 11 hours so I can't really complain. Rob makes her a bottle while I change her diaper then he feeds her. I doze since I have to be up in an hour to start the wake up routine (Rob usually snoozes a little longer in the morning before he gets up).

6:31 -- My alarm goes off and I get myself up. I really rather sleep but that isn't an option. If I want a shower then I have to get up now.

6:52 -- I'm out of the shower and not at all ready to take on the day. But I'm dressed and that's something. I now have a few minutes to chill before I have to wake up the kids. I need a second to sit anyway because I am hurting bad - I scraped the icy driveway yesterday and I am definitely feeling it.

7:00 -- Time to get Addison up. Rob is taking her this morning so I wasn't going to wake Connor but when I walk by his room and peek in, he is already awake anyway. I get Addison some clothes and get her moving then go back to get Connor dressed. I let Emma sleep especially since she had shots yesterday so she's a little under the weather.

7:10 -- Connor and I head downstairs to start breakfast. Addison is already downstairs sitting at the dining room table practicing math (she's her father's daughter). I put together frozen French toast sticks for Addison and a frozen pancake and banana for Connor, along with go-gurts for both. There was some sitting drama but they get to eating.

7:17 -- I go ahead and get things set up to start cutting the orders I got the last couple of days. Once I get that start, I go back to make Addison's lunch.

7:27 -- I sit at my desk to eat my cereal and continue to take care of some work. Addison is done eating, teeth brushed and shoes on ready for school. Connor is cranky but they are taking a few minutes to play with daddy this morning. I am scrambling to get all my cutting down before Emma gets up.

7:53 -- Rob and Addison are off to walk to school or rather off to slip and slide to school. It's slick out this morning (Rob said once he got back that Addison wanted to walk in the grass but even that was slick. He usually takes her on mornings it's slick so I don't have to try to get all three kids there in one piece without anyone falling.)

8:15 -- Rob is off to work. I'm finishing up work and Connor is watching Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers (Like I said he's a bit cranky and acts like he's not feeling good - Rob thinks it's because the house is so dry and none of us are sleeping well.)

8:41 -- I hear Emma so I get up to make a bottle but by the time I get upstairs she's sleeping again. I put the bottle in the fridge and open the blinds - the sun is actually out today, at least for the moment, and I could use some natural light in the house and some sunshine! I go back to work, designing new kits in the meantime.

9:05 -- I hear Emma again so I go back up and she's in fact ready to get up this time. She is certainly unhappy but it's probably just because she's hungry. I get her a diaper changed and dressed then we head downstairs to for a bottle (4 oz).

9:36 -- She's done eating and much happier. I talk to her for a couple minutes then we head upstairs to get her blanket and put the clothes in the dryer.

9:44 -- I put her in a bouncer chair with me and I sit to start getting books listed online to sell. I'm working through a books declutter now. I have sorted through the books we had in boxes downstairs and now it's time for the next step (I'll talk more about this in a future blog). She smiles and coos away while I work.

10:00 -- She is done sitting there and ready for a nap. She's acting uncomfortable and not wanting to settle. She had shots yesterday and I knew that meant today might be rough.

10:12 -- A lot of pacing later and she drifting off.

10:22 -- Some extra holding to make sure she's really asleep then I put her down in the boppy. She's not really sleeping in the port-a-crib during the day. At least I can put her down.

10:37 -- Connor decides he's hungry. It's a little earlier than normal but I'm hungry too so I'm going with it today. He has a hot dog, cheese puffs, cheese, and a few chocolate covered raisins.

Emma also wakes up and is just laying in her boppy. I'm hoping she'll go back to sleep because she need  to sleep.

10:57 -- My lunch is ready but I'm once again trying to get Emma back down to sleep. Connor however is happily eating away.

11:05 -- Finally eating, although I am still holding Emma but she has calmed down enough for me to get some food.

11:21 -- Connor has a massive meltdown. Not to go into details I put  a screaming Emma down so I can carry an also screaming Connor up to his room.

11:33 -- Everything is mostly calm so I'm pacing with a quiet but still not sleeping Emma. Connor is in his room hopefully napping. I turn on Bones (I've been rewatching) and eat chocolate.

11:41 -- Trying again to put her down.

11:45 -- And she's awake again...

11:49 -- I'm giving her another bottle and will try again.

12:18 -- She's done eating (3 oz) and I'm hoping she'll take a decent nap but so far her eyes are pretty wide open. I'm back to my dreaded pacing in hopes that she will fall asleep. This girl is like a shark except she can't move on her own so she wants me to constantly be moving. It's pretty exhausting actually.

12:31 -- Finally she's asleep. She woke a few times but then finally settled. I don't think I'm putting her down again. It hasn't fared well for me today. I'm working with one hand today I guess.

2:51 -- She's up and ready to eat again. At least she napped.

2:54 -- Connor is also up and in a much better mood.

3:09 -- Emma is done eating her 4 ounce bottle and it's time to start getting ready to go pick up Addie from school.

3:21 -- And we're off.

3:52 -- Home again and snack time for everyone. Emma continued to sleep in the carrier for a bit before my back protested too much so I took her off (which meant I was running the risk of waking her up but I was just going to have to risk it). The big kids did some creating which meant Addie gluing something from school and Connor poking holes in a piece of paper with a pen.

4:22 -- I go upstairs to rock Emma who isn't settling well. The kids are in the hallway together with their pillows. I can hear Addison reading to Connor.

5:45 -- Rob is home so I start dinner (much later than any of our hungry stomachs wanted).

6:09 -- We sit down to eat some frozen ravioli and breadsticks. We have definitely been going easy with our meals lately because juggling everything isn't always going so well for me.

6:31 -- The kids and Rob facetime with Rob's parents while I do a little work that didn't happen earlier in the day.

6:50 -- They are done and almost immediately we end up facetiming with my sister and her kids. It was an unexpected treat for the kids who were happy to see their cousins.

7:02 -- Shower time for Addison.

7:22 -- I brush Connor's teeth while Addison continues getting ready for bed on her own. Rob is taking care of Emma.

7:28 -- Despite his long nap today, Connor is tired and is in bed after I read to him.

7:32 -- Addison is reading to Rob.

7:43 -- Addison is off to bed.

8:10 -- Emma is awake again and ready to eat.

8:26 -- She is done eating (4 ounces) and it's time to get her down.

9:01 -- She is down for the night too.

That leaves us free for the rest of the night which normally means computer games for Rob and planning and iPad playing for me. Life with three kids...
